Great apartment, perfect location

July 8, 2013

I would recommend Rob & Cido’s apartment to anyone visiting Amsterdam. It is much better than a hotel room. We spent 6 nights there and it wasn’t long enough. The apartment is very clean, nicely decorated, and fully equipped. We especially liked the big front windows overlooking the Prinzengracht and the big bedroom windows opening into a small courtyard.
The location is perfect. Jordaan is a beautiful area and away from the crowds. It is only a 15 walk from Centraal Station. Everything you need is nearby, restaurants,a grocery store, bars, and shops. If you If you want to live like a local, this is the place. Rent some bicycles and dive right it.
If you want authentic Dutch cooking, try “Restaurant ‘t Zwaantje”. This place was recommended by some locals who even callled and placed a reservation for us. The stewing steak with vegatables was delicious. Another little gem is “In De Wildeman”, a bar at Kolkstteg 3 near the city center. Grab a table outside, order a beer, strike up a conversation, and watch the world go by.
We’ve been home for a week and can’t wait to go back. When we do, we’ll stay at Rob and Cido’s place again.

A great time in Amsterdam in a great apartment
We are a middle aged, retired couple and this was our first visit to Amsterdam. The apartment was excellent and the hosts Cido and Rob could not have been more helpful or friendlier. The apartment is very comfortable, well appointed and the hosts have gone to some trouble to fit it out with quality inclusions. The apartment is in a prime position overlooking Prinsengracht and is within walking distance of the stop for the canal boats going to the major attractions,l as well as easy walk to the main city area. The local area also has good restaurants and cafes. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Best possible place in Amsterdam! My family and I have stayed in other properties in many cities around the world, and I must say that Cido and Rob’s flat in Amsterdam is the best we’ve ever been to. The location is superb, within walking distance from most attractions. The flat itself is beautifully decorated (which is quite rare, as most owners seem to furnish their flats with old and dirty stuff) – Cido and Rob’s flat is clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished, well equipped with anything you would need in a vacation home. We had breakfast and dinner in the flat every day, which not only allowed us to save some money, but is also an evidence of how well equipped this flat is. Our two sons (15 and 10) shared the large sofa bed in the living room without complaining – they actually said it was quite comfortable. Finally, we don’t have enough words to thank Rob and Cido for their assistance – from the moment we first contacted them to inquire about the flat’s availability to our departure, they were the most perfect hosts one could ask for. For instance, our luggage was delayed in Paris – Rob helped me contact the airline to have the bags delivered in the flat. As we spent New Year in Amsterdam, we were delighted to find a bottle of champagne waiting for us, together with stroopwafels (if you have ever been in Amsterdam, you know what I am talking about), chocolates and flowers! In summary, the most perfect place, the most delightful hosts in one of the most charming cities in the world! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous apartment, fantastic location. My husband and I stayed here for only two nights – we wish we could have stayed longer. After mastering the 3 flights of stairs (very wide but not steep by Dutch standards) we were overwhelmed by how spacious, light, clean and welcoming Cido’s apartment was. The bed was soooo comfortable and the outlook to the church courtyard over the canal was beautiful. To wake up on our first morning to fantastic markets across the canal was an added bonus – fresh bread, fantastic cheeses and the best Dutch pea and ham soup you could ask for. Cido is a very gracious host and couldn’t be more helpful. She even offered to put our washing through the machine whilst we toured Amsterdam; she met us when we got back “home” after our last wander around Amsterdam and called us a cab to take us to our boat. We love her and can’t wait to get back for a longer visit!

We stayed in Cido and Rob’s apartment in October, 2012 when we took our granddaughters to Amsterdam. It was absolutely perfect. We felt welcome and at home from the moment we stepped through the door. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us on the kitchen table and our grand daughters were thrilled to find an entire chest full of teddy bears! The apartment is ideally located and on a quiet part of the canal. It is exactly as the pictures show and has everything you need for the perfect vacation stay. I would certainly rent this apartment for my next visit to Amsterdam.

Lovely, light-filled apartment overlooking the Prinsengracht. On Saturday morning you’re looking out onto the market across the canal and on Monday there’s the Noordermarkt stretching along Westerstraat. The whole Jordaan area is charming and a pleasure to explore on foot or bicycle, but really, from the apartment, everything we wanted to get to was within walking distance. The apartment was extremely clean and well-maintained and contains everything you might want for a comfortable stay. Although Cido had to be away the week we were in Amsterdam, she made careful arrangements with a neighbour to ensure we were settled in and had someone to talk to should any problem arise (none did). We chose this apartment because friends recommended it and would have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers.

Sweeter than Home. Location, location, location. We stayed 5 nights in this quiet, convenient apartment which had the nicest hostess we’ve every experienced. Lovely 3rd floor apartment in the Jordaan, on a canal, across from a Unesco Square with great restaurants and coffee houses. If you decide to never leave the immediate area you’ll be more than happy with the local markets (for eating in), or try Caffe Toscanini – an upscale gem of a restaurant. You can also walk 2 blocks to the Anne Frank Museum then up to the top of the Westerkerk Church Tower for the best views of the city right next door. We opted to have Cido take us on a wonderful tour of the canals in her aluminum boat. Well worth it. We wholeheartedly endorse this rental. Our friends couldn’t believe the value once they’d seen it – they had gotten an incredible rate at a 4 star hotel less than a kilometer away and had less than 1/3 the space for more than we were paying. We had a kitchen and a full living room with a view across the canal. Not to mention the award winning garden in the back! ‘ Thank you Cido for making our visit to Amsterdam so warm and friendly. We want to come back soon.

Wonderful apartment! My husband and I came from Seattle, this is the first time we visited Amsterdam and stayed in an apartment. The apartment is everything stated in the description – it is spotlessly clean, very comfortable, great location – close to markets and some wonderful restaurants we ate. It is a beautiful place also, looking out the canal and an old church. Cido is a wonderful hostess, she gave us detailed directions on how to get to the apartment, and she was right there greeted us when we got to the door. She really made us feel home. The Saturday market is right across the canal, we had a great time walking through fresh fruits, fresh cheese and vegetables, and a large variety of mushrooms, we had a wonderful time!

We were so thrilled with our stay at this apartment. It was in a great location, very accessible to the train station. Cido was very helpful in pointing out the market, showed us where to enjoy the best apple tart we’ve ever had and even provided a bottle of wine for us upon our arrival. The apartment itself is very spacious and easily slept three adults. We were sad our stay wasn’t longer! I’m definitely recommending this apartment to anyone who is visiting Amsterdam!

My family of 4 – 2 adults and 2 children (12 and 14) spent four lovely days in this apartment overlooking the canal. It is beautifully decorated and just as in the photos. All the appliances are modern and everything is available to cook at home in style with lovely serving pieces, fresh flowers and plenty of space. We were spoiled to have a large modern bathroom, fast WiFi and television, plenty of books to read on travel in Holland, DVDs for the children to watch and plenty of sun. This is what we loved most about our stay here – it is a beautiful bright apartment with great ventilation. We walked everywhere and enjoyed a wonderful boat ride with Rob at dusk as the bridges were lighting up and enjoyed all the knowledge he shared about the city. Our hosts were gracious, warm and friendly and their door was always open. The booking was easy. We took the bus from the Central Train station to Marken to enjoy a few hours and lunch on this charming Island. At night we crossed the street to enjoy the best Apple Tart at the Winkel Cafe with a Cappuccino to refuel for the next day’s adventures. Print an enlarged view of the walk from the train station to the apartment. Although it is short, if this is your first time to the city the canals, numerous bike riders, streets and small views on typical maps can be a little disorienting. Thanks Cido and Rob!

We stayed in this magnificent place from 23 Mar to 31 Mar 2012. What a great space! I really can’t say enough good things. Firstly, it is directly on and overlooks the Prinsengracht canal. One looks right onto the canal and over to the Noordekerk church. Not to be missed is the Noordermarkt (you will see that out the window as well) on weekends and Mondays! Secondly, the apartment could not be in a better location- the “SoHo” of Amsterdam- the Jordaan (SoHo before it was a giant mall). We are New Yorkers, so it was the perfect location- away from the crowded, throngs of folks touring, but an easy and quick walk to Central Station, grocery stores, restaurants, and all manner of attractions. The apartment is located just down the street from the fabled Anne Frank house and Westerkerk church. We walked to Vondelpark, Museumplein, Leidesplein, Rembrandtplein, etc. You name it- we did it. All from a picture perfect location. Thirdly, the apartment itself was fabulous- kitchen, flatscreen, wireless, all the bells and whistles. Was just like being at home! I will not stay in hotels anymore (much less personal), and this place did not disappoint! We had no issues with payment, dates, etc., and the owners could not have been nicer!

I cannot put in words how much of a perfect choice ‘HOME SWEET HOME’ was. But I will try… As soon as you enter, there is an immediate sense of arriving HOME. Between the aesthetic design, the welcoming fresh flowers/fruit/wine/homemade cupcakes and hosts Cido and Rob’s desire to make your stay the very best it can be, this is the ONLY address you need in Amsterdam. Perfectly positioned on one of the city’s most spectacular canals, close to fashionable Jordaan, it’s a pillow throw from everything you may want: supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, the weekly organic food and vintage clothes market, Anne Frank huis, Dam Square and so on. The apartment itself with its achingly tall windows overlooking the canal, luxurious furnishings with eclectic antique accents, slick mod kitchen, double sinked bathroom with large shower and cute bedroom, envelops you in comfort and tranquility, it’s genuinely hard to leave. I would suggest you book NOW.

Luminous wonderfully located Jordaan apartment in a fully renovated Canal house with a breathtaking view of canal and market square (lively Saturday market) and Nordekerk (North Church), impeccably clean and beautifully furnished, fully appointed with a great kitchen and eating space : a real home away from home. Short and easy walk from Centraal station, proximity to shops, restaurants and major sights. It’s a short walk up the same street to the Anne Frank House. Very quiet closed bedroom and comfortable bed; bathroom is large with excellent shower. Central individually controlled heating. Welcoming and very helpful owners that live in the same building .They gave us helpful tips and referred us to great restaurants and shopping; a lovely bottle of wine, fresh fruit, Christmas cookies and cut flowers awaited our arrival. The owner made every effort to accommodate an early arrival and a late departure for our plane connections. We exchanged many emails before our arrival as our plans were evolving and always had a prompt and helpful reply from Cido who is a great host. Laundry facility is shared and located on ground floor. Lovely garden in back would be great in warmer weather. We were visiting our son studying at university in Amsterdam. This location met all our needs. Even though just the two of us stayed at the apartment our two sons (our older son was also in Amsterdam) and cousins from London were able to spend some time together at the apartment and thanks to the fully equipped kitchen and dining table we were able to have an unforgettable Holiday dinner with our sons at the apartment. We would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend this apartment to anyone in search of a great and comfortable location from which to explore this lovely city. Thanks again Cido and Rob.

Amsterdam is a wonderful city to explore on foot and you want to be sure to select a rental that is: – Walkable from the train station – Walkable to the museum district – Away from all the rowdy late night partiers but close enough to walk there yourself – Amidst a wide selection of restaurants, coffee shops and shopping areas This flat has all of the above and loads of charm to boot! It is a very very nice place and I wish I could have stayed longer. Great kitchen, great bathroom, just wonderful view out the windows to the trees and canal below. Owners are off the chart friendly and helpful.

We stayed in this lovely flat at the end of August and it was heaven. The flat was well appointed, perfectly clean, pretty and a wonderful base for our 11 day stay. Our kind and friendly host Cido gave us a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. There were many thoughtful touches, beautiful fresh flowers and a really nice bottle of white in the fridge. We loved the location of the flat, it is centrally located on one of the most picturesque canal streets, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an excellent market which popped up out of nowhere our first morning there, in the little square right across the canal! The produce we purchased there was delicious. Cido and Rob have a boat and we booked a Canal ride with them on the Saturday when the weather was fine. They were really great guides. It was a fun day and really added to the special nature of our stay. Even though we encountered some pretty inclement weather during our time in Amsterdam, the flat was so comfortable, we enjoyed staying in, reading and relaxing. The saddest part of our stay here was having to leave. Thanks Cido and Rob for making our trip to Amsterdam such a memorable part of our European adventure!

Cido and Rob could not have been nicer or more accommodating hosts…our 3rd floor walk-up had a wonderful view of the canal and weekly specialty markets across the way. Beautiful tulips, must have been 2 dozen, awaited our arrival…a nice touch. The living/ dining “great-room” was comfortable and spacious…with homey touches like a cozy throw and plenty of pillows in addition to the very nice sofa and chairs. The sleeping room is at the back of the apartment, nice and quiet, and plenty of storage space. There is a beautifully appointed bath, complete with his-n-hers sinks! (The water was always hot and plenty of pressure too!) The kitchen afforded us the opportunity to cook and was generously supplied with pretty much everything one might need for most meal preparation, cookware and tool wise. From our European travel experience, we can say it has biggest refrig/freezer we’ve ever seen in such a rental! They even included ice cube trays, which are hard to find in Europe! Cido and Rob were very gracious and thoughtful, providing lots of insights to where to shop in the local weekly markets and “regular” grocers. They offered ideas on dining and sight seeing. We were treated like family, even though we had just met. Due to our terribly early arrival, they even allowed us to “crash” in the unit at 7:30 AM, even though our time would not official begin until 3 PM…what a blessing that they were able to do this for us… For the location and space, I am hesitant to say that it is probably undervalued…that is to say, a steal for the price. So, if we’re not able to rent this again because it has become so popular, I’ll be sad indeed, but not surprised! This is a wonderful location and a terrific apartment. It is one that will allow the traveler a true local’s living experience. Take this unit, if you can get it. You will not regret your choice… Enjoy it!
